a cowardly or heroic act?

Mar Roxas’ sudden withdraw of his presidential aspirations shocked me. I was vying for him for the presidency.. not because of his padyak moments in his sobrang cheesy political ad but because it was a matter of choosing the “lesser evil”.. and in terms of political track record, Mar Roxas has already proven himself.  from the spurring of call centers when he was a DTI secretary to his legislative milestones on his term as a senator, very few anomalies were attached to him..

Now, was his withdrawal an act of a hero or a coward?

According to Roxas, his primary reason for backing out was to make way for Noynoy’s presidency. that would make him a hero. a true leader per se. why? because a true leader knows how to sacrifice for the greater good.. well im not saying that Noynoy is the bearer of the greater good but in Roxas’ perception, he is.. thats why he sacrificed..

On the other hand, if my pessimistic alter ego wont deceive me, Roxas’ action could have been the result of his forecast of a probable defeat.. considering the fact that he is not doing well in the polls. which makes him a complete coward..

whatever his reason is, one thing is for sure.. now the options for the presidency has been narrowed down to a very few list of capable leaders.. Noynoy perhaps?

Maybe not.. Noynoy, in my opinion, is way too young (in terms of politics) to become the next president.. i know his intentions are clear but i think that is not sufficient.. let us not let our emotions overwhelm us.. the masses’ sudden push for noynoy’s presidency could have been the result of his mother’s death.. he has not proven anything yet..

Definitely not the best move for Mar.. but who knows? no one can really tell where this crucial event will lead us..

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam..

  13. ang pulitka sa pilipinas ay isang malaking sarsuwela.

  14. if the election will be held now, there is a great possibility that Noynoy will win because you know… his mother’s death. but the election is still 9 months from now. everything can change including our people’s mind. i prefer Mar rather than Noynoy. but Mar have announced that he will not run for the presidency next year and endorsed Noynoy instead.

haiz. ang politics nga naman sa Pinas parang love. wooooh. sobrang complicated. hehehe.

  24. welcome back kapatid and thank you for this entry. mar also surprised me. sayang, gusto pa naman daw maging fuuurrrrrs lady ni korina, according to deejay of gtm.

  25. First of all let me congratulate you for your well written article. I like the way you think. You are absolutely right on the fact that Mar Roxas knew from the moment Noynoy disclosed his intentions, he’s in deep trouble. I don’t know if everybody agrees with me but in my humble opinion, this two guys (although lesser evil as compared to TRAPOs) are not the best out there. I have never liked GMA from the moment she got the presidency- God knows how I hate her, but I just thought she made the right choice of getting Teodoro. I want to know your thoughts about this guy. Check out his qualifications , educational background, expiriences etc.

    • I think he’s the typical TRAPO. and for a very powerful political party to endorse a “kulelat” on the polls, it is quite anomalous. how the hell will they get the votes they need for their candidate to win? they would definitely need a mainstream man.. and a candidate that has the capacity to win.. lets face it.. a major qualification for running is to have an established popularity..

thank u for ur thought provoking comment! :)

  26. It seemed to me that you were offended my friend- I hope Im wrong. Let me clear out something, we are on the same side cruxrifter. The reason why Im asking you coz you seem smart and evidently knows something about politics. I am out of the Phils for awhile now and Im just basically asking who are the trustworthy candidates.. I am a 37 year old ex-military officer (Phil Air Force pilot) who emigrated in the U.S. Why because I am effin sick and tired traditional politicians, a…holes like GMA and God knows who else, who evidently doesn’t care about the country except for their vested interest. I know these things because I have had my fair share of politics as well as militics. I am proud of my 12 years of service for my country as a flight instructor with 3,000 hours of flying effin coffin. But what do I get, nothing!!!! I felt that people running the gov’t are nothing but some goddamned thieves. I had to get another effin degree here in the U.S. to get my life back on track (financially). Let me point out to you that I did not write to show my gripes but to enlighten myself. My intention is not to provoke ( whatever you think it is) ,but to extract quality information from people such as yourself. If you think the guy is TRAPO -as you say he is- it would be better if you write something to support your statement, otherwise it is just an “opinion”. Having said all of this, I still think you are right about him being a TRAPO. While writing this response, I just realized that I had made the right decision to get out of the country to find a greener pasture for the sake of my family. I wouldn’t entrust my kid’s future in these people (can you blame me?). However, I still wish I could do something to save the Phils from these idiots. No offense.

    • Hi Walter! :) I definitely agree on what you said that the Philippines is under the administration of a very selfish and inhumane president. and I sympathize with what youve experienced when you were part of the Philippine Air Force. I am also amazed by your show of patriotism even if the government has already screwed you big time.

Well, from my end.. if you are referring to Noynoy Aquino as a “TRAPO”, well I never said he was.. (and I am actually one of his youth supporter) its just that I could have wanted another man for the job.. (Mar Roxas) but right now everything is clear to me.. What we need at this time and age are not super-competent and over-achieving leaders but MORAL and compassionate leaders.. and well NoyNoy Aquino perfectly fits the description.. Im not being inconsistent.. Its just that, everything became more vivid for me.. That what we need to consider are not the political “what ifs” but instead, we need to consider the present situation, the present circumstances and the present call for change.

  27. First of all, I was referring to Teodoro whom you said was a typical trapo. Secondly, I was not screwed up by the government; Im actually successful in my profession. Its the system that is “fucked up” which in effect, affects us all Filipinos. Third, what we need is exactly a super competent and overachieving individual (i.e. Bush to Obama). Dude! just look at Cory, Ramos, ERAP, and GMA do you think they have done something good? Well they did, but not that much! . I guess we can go on and on and still wouldn’t agree on something. Pointless right? The only thing that made me take a second look at Teodoro is that he is Harvard educated individual. Thats it, period. I can relate to him in a way, because once an individual studies here in U.S. your perception about how the world works will change in a positve way. The main reason for it is that academic people here in U.S. think in another level not because they are super smart but because they have a positive outlook about the future. If your a youth supporter, good for you. There is nothing wrong with being idealistic. But be careful because I have been in your position before, and the only lesson that I have learned is that ” NO ONE WILL EVER CARE”, Lastly, Im earning $200,000.00 per annum ,give your sympathy to Filipinos who is going to have another difficult administration. I wrote this response based on factual experience to support my statement and not waste my time on unsubstantiated opinions. Waste of time.
